eufy E25 vs E28: is the portable cleaner worth paying for?

Compare eufy E25 vs E28 using a named spot-cleaner alternative, fabric restrictions and dated US budgets. Keep an owned cleaner in the calculation.

Choose the E25 when you want the floor-cleaning system and already have a suitable fabric cleaner, or have no use for one. Consider the E28 when its included Portable Deep Cleaner fills a real gap and you accept the carrying, mains lead and cleaning afterward. Paying for that tool does not establish a better robot-cleaning result.

eufy's exact-model comparison identifies the portable cleaner as the principal difference. The US guides identify E25 T2353 and E28 T2352. This is a choice between two packages with an additional hand-operated appliance in the E28, rather than a simple higher-performance tier.

What the extra cleaner is like to use

The E28 tool detaches from the station and is powered at the job. Its guide, English pages 16–19, says to unplug the station, remove the cleaner, move it to the work area and connect the cleaner itself to mains power. Afterward, unplug the cleaner before restowing it and reconnecting the station. It is movable, but it is not cordless or tethered to a live station during use.

That sequence matters for stairs and upholstery. You need reachable power, a practical place to set the appliance and fabric that permits the cleaning method. The guide's page 10 excludes delicate fabrics and surfaces damaged by water or vigorous scrubbing, and requires a small inconspicuous-area test. The robot does not automatically clean a sofa or staircase because the station contains the hand tool.

The preparation also differs from filling the robot's detergent dispenser. The PDC guide uses clean water in its tank. On page 17, fabric cleaner is sprayed onto the stain, left for one minute, then followed by the tool's water spray and brush/extraction. Do not transfer the floor-cleaner recipe to that separate job.

In his three-month E28 home review, Tom Shelton found the spot cleaner useful on fabric stains but heavy and awkward; he also criticized the loud dust-emptying cycle and preferred E25 plus a separate cleaner. Those are his observations, not a universal verdict on every separate appliance. They are a good reason to judge handling as well as the word “included.”

Your situation More useful starting point
Already own a satisfactory fabric cleaner E25; avoid paying again for the same job
Need a suitable fabric cleaner and like the E28 handling/storage arrangement Compare E28's complete price with E25 plus the cleaner you would actually buy
Want automatic sofa or stair cleaning Neither robot supplies that service
Mainly need better carpet pickup Examine model-matched cleaning tests and rug permissions first; the extra tool does not answer that question

Check the floor system before valuing the accessory

The independent evidence gives reasons to be selective about either package. Vacuum Wars bought and tested the E25 over several weeks. Its September 2026 review reported good carpet and hair results, useful mopping and obstacle handling, but less impressive crevice pickup and more residual water than its average. That supports considering E25 for routine upkeep, with appropriate expectations for hard-floor debris and wet residue.

RTINGS' E28 review, using Methodology v1.0 with writing modified in June 2026, was less favorable about carpet, pet hair and stained areas, while finding hard-floor pickup more convincing. These are different tested models, settings and protocols. They do not show that adding or removing the portable cleaner changes robot performance, and their scores should not be subtracted as an E25/E28 experiment.

For a mostly hard-floor home with occasional permitted rugs, the package question remains worthwhile. For a home dominated by embedded pet hair or plush rugs, the tool should not distract from the floor-cleaning evidence or the manuals' restrictions.

Both E25 and E28 guides exclude high-pile rugs and rugs thicker than 21 mm. That is rug thickness, not a promise that every shorter pile is suitable. Some marketing uses 26 mm; the larger figure does not erase the more restrictive manual guidance.

eufy's operating guidance also requires the roller to remain installed even during vacuum-only cleaning. Taking it out for maintenance is not a supported way to turn either robot into a bare vacuum for a difficult rug.

Compare the purchase you would avoid

Consider a hypothetical buyer who needs a floor system and occasional liquid-stain cleaning on non-delicate, water-cleanable upholstery, has reachable mains power and owns no suitable spot cleaner. The E28 must satisfy the material limits above. A separate cleaner must meet its own upholstery-label, colorfastness and preparation requirements; the name “fabric cleaner” does not make two tools interchangeable.

For that buyer, here is a concrete US direct-store comparison checked on November 3, 2026. These are the selected black eufy packages' displayed amounts before coupon codes, plus BISSELL's advertised 1400B amount. The eufy pages showed purchase controls.

Selected equipment Displayed merchandise subtotal Initial fabric-cleaning supplies advertised
E25 $999.99 + BISSELL Little Green 1400B $129.99 $1,129.98 BISSELL's 8 oz trial formula, 3-inch Tough Stain Tool, Spraying Crevice Tool and HydroRinse hose tool
E28 with its Portable Deep Cleaner $1,099.99 One 473 ml ready-to-use eufy Fabric Cleaner shown as a free gift in the selected page summary

Scroll the table horizontally to read every column.

Sources: selected E25, selected E28 and BISSELL Little Green 1400B. The BISSELL model is the corded 1400B, not another Little Green bundle. Its manufacturer guide requires the appropriate upholstery tag, a colorfastness check and removal of loose debris before wet cleaning. The separate cleaner also leaves its dirty tank, tool and hose to clean after use.

On those displayed amounts, E28 is $29.99 less than E25 plus that separate cleaner. That is a purchase-budget result, not evidence that the tools remove stains equally well. Count the supplied formula once; the different bottle sizes do not establish how long either route's supplies will last. Reconcile missing floor-care supplies, tax and delivery before calling either a complete station total.

An existing cleaner changes the result. If a satisfactory fabric cleaner is already yours, E25 starts at $999.99 in the displayed comparison before codes, so E28 adds $100 rather than avoiding a $129.99 purchase. Keeping useful equipment is a different basket from buying it again.

Use the same calculation with your actual quotes:

Extra E28 spending = E28 package total − E25 package total − the separate-cleaner purchase genuinely avoided.

For the hypothetical new buyer, E28 is worth considering when the permitted spot-cleaning job, handling and shared storage suit the household. E25 plus the named separate cleaner remains a useful alternative when that appliance is the preferred tool. If the PDC cannot be used on the intended material or is too awkward to carry, its inclusion does not save the price of a suitable alternative. Do not deduct an accessory's advertised retail value merely because it appears in the box.

Station space and continuing work

The two guides suggest about 0.5 m on each side and 1 m in front, adjustable to the working environment. Those are approach recommendations, not certified cabinet dimensions. Check tank removal and, for E28, the movement needed to extract and restow the portable cleaner. A shelf that clears the closed station can still obstruct those tasks.

Both packages leave clean/dirty-water handling, roller and tray cleaning, bags, filters, brushes and approved floor cleaner to manage. E28 adds fabric-tool cleanup and permitted fabric-cleaner supplies. Full maps, schedules and settings also use the app/account route; the station does not remove every recurring task.

On more than one floor, eufy's E25/E28 instructions allow saved maps but still require moving the robot and returning it for necessary water/mop service. The hand cleaner and robot remain separate appliances to carry.

E25 is the simpler purchase when floor care is the only missing job. E28 earns consideration when a permitted fabric-cleaning job is genuinely missing, its handling suits the person using it, and the full package compares well with a suitable alternative. Settle those three questions before paying for the extra appliance.
